PLEASE NOTE: This training is currently FULL. You may still register and will be placed on a waiting list. Another IDAC training will be held in Springfield in June (dates TBA).
At the request of a school district, Project ACCESS trains certified teachers to consult with colleagues serving students with autism within their own district. To receive In-District Autism Consultant training, individuals must have completed six days of autism specific training; i.e.: the two-day Introduction to Autism, followed by the four-day Working with Autistic Students in the Schools (WASS) or the four-day Early Intervention for Young Children with Autism (EIYCA). These trainings are typically offered by your district’s Regional Professional Development Center (RPDC). IDACs serve in a consulting capacity at the discretion of their district, and do not provide consultation outside their local school districts. Completing IDAC training does not automatically credential an individual as a certified trainer to provide autism professional development trainings. The “train the trainer” sessions are separate.
In order to attend the In-district Autism Consultant Training, a school administrator must send a brief letter to Project ACCESS stating that the certified teacher being sent to the IDAC training is being selected to serve as the school district’s autism consultant. School districts may send more than one individual as long as each individual named is a certified teacher and has completed a minimum of six days of autism specific training as noted above. At your written request, we will train your teacher in strategies appropriate specifically to children with autism, but useful with many children. This two and a half day training is intensive, with written exams over the content.
Each person attending the 2010 In-district Autism Consultant training must complete a separate registration form. Candidates may register online or may download the registration form, which can be completed by hand or on the computer, and then be printed and mailed or faxed to the Project ACCESS office.
If you opt to fax in a completed registration form, you can do so by faxing to (417) 895-5576.
If you elect to mail the registration in hard copy, please send the form, along with a check (made payable to Project ACCESS) or purchase order to the business office at
