Joanie Armstrong

Joanie Armstrong

Joanie Armstrong began her career with Project ACCESS in 1991. With a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education and a Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling. Joanie has served the Missouri Public School system in various ways, starting out as a substitute (oh the joy of remembering those "early" years!!). She has taught regular secondary education and worked as a school psychological examiner for a special education coop. Prior to joining ACCESS, she was a full time instructor for the psychology department at Missouri State. When her schedule permits, she still enjoys teaching courses. Joanie is a licensed professional counselor and has facilitated professional development training for the WISC-IV as well as the WAIS-III. Psychometrics have always been a favorite interest. In the world of autism, Joanie's special interest lies in the area of sensory motor impairment. During 1998-99, Joanie served one year as a Behavior Education Consultant for the Provincial Resource Program for Students with Autism and Related Disabilities in Delta, British Columbia. She traveled throughout British Columbia consulting with teachers and parents having students and children experiencing autism and/or related disorders. This opportunity allowed her to work directly with many different children in a variety of circumstances and many levels of development.
