Learning outcomes for the special education and assessment specialist degree

• Students will demonstrate proficiency with diagnostic and assessment processes necessary to evaluate the academic and intellectual capacity of school-aged children, as indicated by successful completion of assessment-related coursework and passing of a performance-based comprehensive examination process.
• Students will demonstrate competence in application of data-based diagnostic decision-making by satisfactory completion of an performance-based comprehensive examination.
• Students will demonstrate competence on the Department of Elementary and Secondary (DESE) standards for School Psychological Examiners by completing certification coursework at a satisfactory level and successfully completing a field-based practicum in the program.
