Dr.
Christopher Craig, Associate Dean of the College of Education (COE) came to Missouri State in
August of 1994 after completing his doctoral work at George Peabody
College for Teachers of Vanderbilt University.
Dr. Craig's public school teaching experience includes 10 years teaching
children and youth with disabilities in the Springfield and Nixa school
districts in Missouri. Dr. Craig's research and scholarship has
focused on the literacy development of children who are blind and who have
low vision, assistive technology, and policies impacting individuals with
disabilities.
Dr. Craig's academic vita reveals numerous published articles and
national presentations related to these areas. In addition, Dr.
Craig is
principal investigator on a number of federal and state projects including
Standards Based Training and Retention of Rural Special Educators (STARRS)
and a project funded by the Missouri Department of Elementary and
Secondary Education entitled Blindness Skill Specialist. Dr. Craig's
college teaching is in the area of Special Education with an emphasis in
visual impairment.
When Dr. Craig is not busy in his role as Associate Dean, he can be found strumming his guitar, banging on the piano, or
continuing his direct consultation to children and youth who are blind in
area k-12 schools. Every now and then, Dr. Craig can be found
intimidating fish along with Drs. Hough and Brown.
