Dr. Hough is the Dean for the College
of Education (COE). The COE mission is to "Create a Legacy of
Learning". (Read about the many programs and initiatives
underway to promote this mission in Dr. Hough's

of the College Address.)
Dr. Hough is Professor of Research & Statistics and Director of the
Institute for School Improvement. He joined
Missouri State in 1991 after having worked for the University of California as a
Research Scientist from 1988-1991. He is the author of a college
text Middle School teaching: Methods and Resources (Prentice Hall).
Dr. Hough is a member of RAB and he's served as editor of
Research in Middle Level Education, since 1994, the National Middle School Association's Research
Journal. A member of the American Educational Research
Association, Dr. Hough has authored over 100 journal articles, book
chapters, monographs, and research papers, dealing with a
variety of educational research.
When Dr. Hough is not hard at work in Hill Hall, he is
"back home at the ranch" (literally) where he gardens, tackles a
variety of wood-working projects running from barn building to
shadow-box construction, and produces hay for his wife Linda's
prize-wining Missouri Fox Trotters and his son Lincoln's Registered
Herfords.
