Preparing our students to be teachers

Why study early childhood education at Missouri State? Our program gives you the following opportunities:

  • You will receive a well-rounded experience in both early childhood education and family development, enriching your education.
  • Not only will you learn the theory and practice of teaching, but you will also gain knowledge of the development of the actual student.
  • You will participate in a wide variety of field placements and hands-on experiences before you even begin your student teaching so that you can feel comfortable and confident in the classroom.

Earn your teaching certificate

Our early childhood education program is the only program in the state of Missouri that houses both early childhood education and family development in the same department. This highly competitive program will prepare you to successfully teach young children. Upon graduating you will have earned a Missouri teaching certificate, certifying you to teach from birth through grade 3.

Our program is recognized in Missouri and nationally

Our program is approved by the Missouri State Board of Education and accredited by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.
