Public Affairs

In support of the Missouri State University Public Affairs Mission, the goal of Greenwood Laboratory School is to support the development of citizens of enhanced character who will:

  • Articulate their value systems, act ethically within the context of a democratic society, and demonstrate engaged and principled leadership. (Ethical Leadership)
  • Recognize and respect multiple perspectives and cultures. (Cultural Competence)
  • Recognize the importance of contributing their knowledge and experiences to their own community and the broader society. (Community Engagement)

Greenwood High School students participate in the MSU Public Affairs Symposium on the campus of Missouri State University. Students from Greenwood discuss a variety of topics and benefit from programs presented by outstanding guest speakers who are professionals in their fields.

Greenwood students are encouraged to participate in community outreach programs in order to explore future career paths and discover the needs of our community.

"My education at Greenwood provided me with numerous opportunities to develop leadership skills, even though I probably didn't  know it at the time. Our small class size, the resources and support from the university, and teachers that encouraged each of us to be active and involved with a wide variety of programs and organizations all contributed to the development of my leadership skiils. I will always be grateful for the education and experiences I received at Greenwood that enabled me to be a better leader in my professional career and volunteer activities."
