Mrs. Shae Johnson has taught at Greenwood Laboratory School since 1984--the first 4 years as the 6th grade teacher, and since then she has been the 4th grade teacher. She has been teaching for 34 years. She is a native of Illinois where she taught High School, behavior disorders; remedial reading, and first grade.
She served on the Public Affairs Task Force in order to establish our Public Affairs mission at Greenwood. She also is the Committee Chair for the current Elementary North Central Goal. Shae is a facilitator for Project WET (Water Education for Teachers), Project WILD, and Project Learning Tree, and Love and Logic. She is a trained eMINTS teacher who integrates inquiry learning with technology in the classroom, and recently she has earned her certification to be an eMINTS trainer. Currently, she is teaching the 3rd and 6th grade teachers.
Her students regularly compete in LAD (Language Arts) Fair, spelling bees, geography bees, and math contests. The class also is an active fund-raiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night, being the team with the longest longevity with Light the Night in Springfield.
