Assessment of Student Performance: Portfolio Checkpoints 1, 2, & 3
Student progress toward professional education standards is assessed throughout the program of study with results recorded at three designated checkpoints. At each checkpoint designated faculty will evaluate and provide comments using an online evaluation system. A
scoring guide for the MoSTEP standards can be found here. Scoring guides for the specialty area standards are available from individual departments.
Portfolio Checkpoint 1: ELE 302 or SEC 302 or SPE 310
These artifacts are required and must be included within the portfolio at Checkpoint 1.
- Introduction
- Educational Philosophy (only if you have taken SFR 250, otherwise submit your philosophy at checkpoint two)
- Professional Resume
- Clinical Placements Log initiated to include initial field experiences and outcomes (reflective narratives).
- An initial artifact and artifact cover sheet as required by your program to meet MoSTEP quality indicators, the Missouri State PEU Conceptual Framework outcomes, and subject area competencies.
- Optional: Students are strongly encouraged to add showcase items
Portfolio Checkpoint 2: Special Methods Courses or Designated Point in Program
A summary of general expectations for Portfolio Checkpoint 2 follows.
- Updated items from checkpoint 1 (introduction, philosophy, resume, and clinical placements log)
- Educational Philosophy if not submitted as checkpoint one (see above note).
- Additional artifacts and artifact cover sheets as required by your program to meet MoSTEP quality indicators, the Missouri State PEU Conceptual Framework outcomes, and subject area competencies.
- Optional: Students are strongly encouraged to add showcase items
Portfolio Checkpoint 3: Supervised Student Teaching
Artifacts may be required and reviewed by the specialty area faculty, University Student Teaching Supervisor and cooperating teacher. A summary of expected content follows.
- Completed items from checkpoint 1 (introduction, philosophy, resume, and clinical placements log).
- Remaining artifacts and artifact cover sheets as required by your program to meet MoSTEP quality indicators, the Missouri State PEU Conceptual Framework outcomes, and subject area competencies.
- Student Teaching Evaluations
- Optional: Students are strongly encouraged to add showcase items
