Response to Intervention (RtI) Teachers’ Academy
The Southwest Regional Professional Development Center is pleased to extend an opportunity for teachers, coaches, and administrators to participate in the RtI Academy. This Academy focuses on creating systems that align with RtI principles and support a three tiered structure for appropriate instruction of all students.
The 2010-2011 SWRPDC RtI Academy is an opportunity for participants to learn the critical principles of a responsive system and to reflect on possible changes that may be needed in their current system. Participants will be able to take advantage of nine days of high quality professional development consisting of a Fall Kick-Off and one day a month meeting throughout the school year, with a 2-day summer series to conclude the Academy. In this Academy participants will network with other districts and learn about their journeys in developing a responsive system. The Academy format is for schools who are ready to interact with the content, ask questions, and troubleshoot specific areas of concern in their buildings. Each school should register a three person team. Because RtI requires systems change, it is imperative that an administrator be one of the three team members.
Participation in this event will be selected through an application process. To ensure a high-quality experience, only fourteen school districts will be chosen to participate for this school year.
