New Teacher Mentoring Academy

How are you doing the mentor/mentee dance?

There is a lot to juggle to make a sustainable mentoring program that supports new teachers.  The SW RPDC offers a year-long program designed to build strong mentors and effective beginning teachers. This mentoring program is designed to keep new teachers excited about teaching while facilitating an effective mentoring relationship with a lead teacher from your building.

The academy meets the Initial Professional Certification (IPC) requirement of participating in a beginning teacher assistance program (BTAP) and aligns with the new MO Teacher Standards. The mentor/mentee will be provided professional development and guidance from consultants that have been "new teachers" and "mentors" themselves and can share their experience and expertise from general education, special education, and administration.
