Each year the College of Education (COE) awards approximately 60 scholarships to current undergraduate and graduate students pursuing education and child and family development related degrees. COE scholarships have been established by successful alumni, faculty members, professional organizations and businesses to recognize outstanding students and to help them commit more time to their studies.

The office of financial aid provides information about University scholarships, grants and loans that you may qualify for. Most scholarships at Missouri State University require the submission of a completed General and Departmental Scholarship Application.

Jim & Vi Pollard Memorial Scholarship Fund

Selection criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be an undergraduate student
  • Be seeking a degree from the College of Education
  • Have demonstrated financial need
  • Have an overall GPA of 2.5
  • Have demonstrated good high school academic performance and leadership, for incoming freshmen.

Hispanic Initiative Educator Scholarship

Students are not required to fill out the online General and Department Scholarship Application to apply for this scholarship. However, all students must complete the FAFSA.

In addition early childhood education and child and family development students must fill out the ECE and CFD Scholarship Application. The deadline for application is March 1.

Check with the College of Education to determine if any additional application materials are required.

Selection criteria

This scholarship is awarded to a Hispanic student pursuing a career in teaching. You must be in good standing in the program and be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student.

Inmon Memorial Annual Endowed Scholarship Fund for the College of Education

  • Have attended a rural southwest Missouri high school with less than 1,000 students total (K-12) in the district
  • Complete the general essay on career and academic goals

Madalene Robertson Boritzki Scholarship Award

Dick and Pauline Tuter Memorial Scholarship

First priority is given to undergraduate students graduating from a high school in McDonald or Newton County in Missouri. Second priority is given to undergraduate students graduating from a high school in southwest Missouri. Third priority is given to graduate students who graduated from high school in southwest Missouri. Awards are made with regard for financial need.

Empo Allen Harmon Scholarship

Peggy Pearl Child Development Lab Fund Scholarship

Selection criteria

This scholarship is awarded annually based on the selection of the director of the Child Development Lab with approval of the dean of the College of Education.

University Child Care Center Employee Scholarship

Renewal criteria

This scholarship can be renewed, but students must reapply to be considered for renewal. Reapplication will be subject to full review.

Selection criteria

Preference is given to applicants enrolled in the early childhood education program. You must be employed by the University Child Care Center at the time of application and award. Preference is given to full-time employees, and recipients must be enrolled in at least one hour per semester.

Consideration is given to high school performance, college potential as indicated by aptitude tests and to leadership qualities when awarded to an incoming freshman. When awarded at sophomore level or higher, student must have maintained a GPA of 3.0 overall. Preference is given to applicants at or above the sophomore level.

Dr. Leonila Pangilinan Rivera/Student Council for Exceptional Children Fund Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded annually to a junior or senior majoring in an area of specialization dealing with the mentally handicapped or developmentally challenged. You must be a resident of the state of Missouri. Preference is given to seniors.
