Professional Education Advisement
Hill Hall 202
(417) 836-5429

The Professional Education Advisement Center welcomes you! We assist students with class scheduling and planning for the following majors:

  • Early Childhood Education
  • Elementary Education
  • Middle School Education
  • Special Education, Cross-Categorical

We also make referrals to campus support services and professional organizations, monitor professional education requirements and class prerequisites, and provide resource materials for the CBASE and PRAXIS II exams.

Secondary education majors are advised by faculty members in the departments of the major fields.  Our Secondary Education Director coordinates the efforts of secondary education faculty advisors.  More information about the programs and advisement is available on the School of Teacher Education secondary education web page.

We support the mission statement of the College of Education “to help all children learn and succeed in school, to become productive, caring citizens and active community participants through the preparation of quality professional educators.”

The Professional Advisement Center team looks forward to working with you to ensure successful progression through our programs.

Students needing assistance planning their class schedules, desiring to apply to a degree program, or just interested in a career in education should stop by Hill Hall 202 or call 836-5429.  Walk-in appointments are taken, but to guarantee quality time with an advisor, scheduled appointments are suggested.

Program worksheets are available for the different certification areas so that students interested in the education programs can have a basic idea of what courses are needed and the suggested semesters to take those courses.  Transfer Students should use worksheets designed specifically for them. If you have questions about the C-BASE, PRAXIS, or other required tests, call the testing center at 836-5978 or visit the Testing Center web.
