SEC 302
- Requires 45 hours completed
- CBASE attempt not required; but must pass CBASE with a score of 265 or higher to proceed beyond SEC 302.

- At least 30 or more completed hours
- Highway Patrol background check
- ACT score on file if required by DESE
- COM 115 completed w/ “C” or better
- EDC 150 completed w/ “C” or better
- ELE 302 or SEC 302 or SPE 310 completed with a “C” or better
- All components of the CBASE test passed with 265 score or higher
- GPA 2.5 or higher
- Approved by PEC.
The Teacher Education Program is not to be confused with the Degree Program, which is a University requirement (see your advisor to file your degree Program).
- Enrollment in all Professional Education courses beyond ELE 302 or SEC 302 or SPE 310
- You must be admitted to the Teacher Education Program
- (When requirements are met PEC will evaluate your credentials for admission to Teacher Education) You may register for Professional Education courses if you have ELE 302 or *SEC 302 or SPE 310 in progress, but you cannot enroll in Professional Education courses beyond ELE 302 or *SEC 302 or SPE 310 unless you have been approved for the Teacher Education Program

- Admission to Supervised Teaching
- Admission to Teacher Education Program
- Passed professional portfolio 2nd checkpoint
- Complete student teaching application by February 15 if student teaching in the upcoming academic year
- All departmental prerequisites met (they are listed in the catalog) and a Major GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Certificate and secondary subject content areas require GPA 2.5 or higher and
combined GPA 2.5 or higher
- Professional Education courses 2.5 or higher and no grade lower than a “C”
- Completed at least 15 hours, with a GPA of 2.50 or above, at MIssouri State University
- All methods courses taken and passed with a “C” or better
- T.B. test clearance
- Advisor recommendation
- Recommendation from department of subject area for Secondary Ed majors
- Recommendation from major education department.
- Graduation
- Take the Exit Exam during your Junior or Senior year
- Complete a graduation card during your senior year to be placed on the graduation list (Carrington 320 or online)
- Utilize Career Services (Carrington 309).
- Recommendation For Certification
- All state certification and program requirements must be met (have your advisor check your audit every semester to make sure you are meeting all requirements and are aware of any state certification changes)
- Pass the PRAXIS II exam required in your area of certification and attain at least the state's minimum qualifying score to be certified. It is recommended that you take the PRAXIS II during your last two semesters of course work
- Passed final professional portfolio checkpoint
- Note: DESE will require an FBI background check prior to issuing a certificate.
