Compliance Documents Required for Practicum and Student Teaching

To comply with both Missouri State University and school district requirements, MSU requires that all students provide documentation to show completion of required compliance documents.


To verify compliance of these documents, students must email (, fax (417-836-5008) or bring verification copies to Hill Hall 200 or 200B.

What is required for a practicum of 30 or less clock hours?

What is required for student teaching and a practicum over 30 clock hours?

  • Current negative TB Skin Test Report (valid for one year)
  • Verification of current Professional Liability Insurance (must be renewed annually)
  • Registration with the Family Care Safety Registry (one-time registration)
  • Mandated Reporter Training
    1. Missouri Child Abuse and Neglect Mandated Reporter Training 

    2. Training Website: - Access with Google Chrome

    3. Training must be current within 6 months prior to student teaching

  • FBI Background Check (valid for one year)
    • Required for ALL teacher candidates
    • Required for students enrolled in a course with a practicum OVER 30 HOURS
    • Required even if the student is working on a Provisional, Temporary, or Substitute Certificate, or working as a Teacher's Aide
    • Required for ALL counseling students enrolled in COU780 - COU786 courses
