  • Feb. 1 if you're student teaching in the upcoming fall semester.
  • Aug. 1 if you're student teaching in the following spring semester.

Students must complete one content area of specialization consisting of 24 credit hours. You must have a 3.00 GPA in your content area to student teach and become certified.

Requirements for admission

  • Completion of 45+ credit hours
  • Pass all sections of the Missouri State Board of Education entry examination
  • COM 115 completed "C" or higher
  • SEC 302 completed "C" or higher
  • 2.75 GPA
  • Family Care Safety Registry on file
  • Active Taskstream purchase
  • Signed student contract
  • Signed dispositions checklist

When requirements are met, the EPPC will evaluate your credentials for admission to Teacher Education. There is no application to fill out.

DESE GPA requirements

  • 2.75 overall GPA for admission to Teacher Education program.
  • 2.75 overall GPA and 3.00 content (major) GPA for assignment to supervised teaching.
  • 2.75 overall GPA, 3.00 content (major) GPA and 3.00 GPA in Professional Education for graduation & certification recommendation.
