We value our In-district Autism Consultants (IDACs) and they continue to provide a knowledgeable and experienced community of collaborators and service providers for school districts. As you are no doubt aware, the knowledge-base related to autism has grown exponentially in the last few decades. Feedback from our IDACs has indicated that some desire additional preparation to master evidence-based interventions and applied behavior strategies. PAAC is specifically designed to bridge this knowledge gap and is a much more comprehensive training program than the three-workshop sequence that lead to IDAC designation. Many folks who participated in our consultation training were actually seeking additional autism training, and many do not or have not been utilized by their district as a consultant.
We anticipated that some IDACs would participate in this new program. We plan to have an updated IDAC certificate that includes some of this training at some point in the future; we’ve just put the consultant-specific training on hold temporarily. In the meantime, we are creating some interesting networking opportunities for existing IDACs, as well as some professional learning opportunities involving some of the biggest names in the field of autism. If you are an IDAC, you will want to keep an eye on our Training Calendar, or make sure we have your updated email address so you don’t miss out.
