Ms. Schotthofer joined Missouri State University in 2013. She completed her master's degree at the University of Missouri– Columbia in Human Development and Family Sciences with an emphasis in Child Life and her bachelor's degree at the University of Wisconsin– River Falls in Elementary Education. Ms. Schotthofer worked as a Certified Child Life Specialist for four years at Golisano Children's Hospital at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, New York. She completed her child life internship at CoxHealth Dee Ann White Women's and Children's Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. Ms. Schotthofer's research interests include healthcare play and the transition of adolescent patients with chronic conditions to adult healthcare.

Ms. Smith joined Missouri State University in 2013. She completed her master's degree at the University of Missouri–Columbia in Human Development and Family Sciences with an emphasis in Child Life and her bachelor's degree at Graceland University in Psychology. Ms. Smith worked as a Certified Child Life Specialist for eight years at Children's Mercy Hospital–Kansas City, where she also completed her child life internship. Ms. Smith completed her child life practicum at the University of Missouri Women's and Children's Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Ms. Smith developed the Child Life South Africa Study Away program and currently leads the Child Life Option satellite program in Kansas City, Missouri. Ms. Smith's special interests include integrating mindfulness, yoga and principles of Synergetic Play Therapy into child life practice.
