A world of opportunities

A degree in child and family development prepares you for a variety of career options. As a graduate of this program, you may find employment in, but not limited to, any of the following areas:

  • Childcare settings as a teacher or administrator
  • Youth based school programs
  • As a family educator
  • Child life specialist

Additionally, careers paths may take you to a variety of other areas such as the following:

  • Community services and programs (homeless shelters, family violence centers, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, etc.)
  • Advocacy, government agencies (Division of Family Services, Child Care Licensing, Child Advocacy Center, etc.)
  • Training and education (training of professionals and paraprofessionals, Learning Connection, Parents as Teachers, Child Care Resource and Referral, etc.)
  • Mental health and special needs populations (Child Development Specialists, camps for special populations, etc.)
