Tips for success

  • You are responsible for checking all course prerequisites.
  • A grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 in business content and 3.0 in professional education are required to student teach and for certification.
  • Requirements for admission to Teacher Education include:
    • Completion of 45 or more credit hours.
    • Passing score on ACT or Missouri General Education Assessment (MoGEA).
    • COM 115 completed at "C" or higher; SEC 302 completed at "B" or higher.
    • Completion of Missouri Volunteer and Employee Criminal History Service (MoVECHS) waiver and fingerprinting.
    • Professionalism contract and student contract.
  • Take the Missouri Content Assessment (MoCA) exam in the fall of your senior year.
  • Student teaching is 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday in the classroom.
  • Planning to attend graduate school? This major can lead you to an accelerated master's degree in educational technology.
