Careers and Outcomes
Entering the high-demand field of school psychological examiner
The EdS in special education and assessment prepares students for a variety of career possibilities. Graduates of the program could work as:
- School psychological examiners
- Educational diagnosticians
- Special education process coordinators
Generally, graduates work with school districts or school systems to aid in the evaluation of students' educational needs. As such, they employ standardized intelligence tests, individual academic achievement tests, behavioral evaluations, aptitude and interest tests, as well as additional methods to provide valid and reliable information to a child's educational team. Specifically, school psychological examiners are qualified to assist in the eligibility decision-making process for K-12 special education, according to IDEIA 2004 guidelines.
