Program Requirements
Degree Requirements
- Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 33 approved graduate hours with a minimum overall GPA of 3.00.
- No more than 12 semester hours of graduate level coursework may be applied to the degree program.
- Research. Six semester hours toward completion of the Research and Administrative Practices and Field Study classes.
- Comprehensive Examination. A time period for the examination will be scheduled during the last semester of the student's coursework in the Field Study Class.
- Students will be required to present an acceptable Field Study paper.
Program Description
Persons completing this option should acquire the necessary competencies to gain initial certification to serve as a superintendent in Missouri schools. Even though a research component is required, emphasis is on the practical aspects of district leadership. (All Educational Administration courses are taught through Missouri State Direct (ZOOM) and online.

Internship
*The internship courses are designed for students earning a specialist degree in Educational Administration/Superintendency. These are DESE required courses.
The intern experience (EAD 882, 883 and 886) is an integral part of this major and should be planned for, with the internship instructor, in advance of the semester in which the student desires to register for the experience. A signed completed internship application is to be on file in the School of Special Education, Leadership and Professional Studies (SELPS) Office prior to enrolling in the class. MOVECHS Background Check and professional liability insurance are required prior to enrolling in EAD 882 and EAD 883. Applications are available from the Internship Instructor and should be returned to the instructor.
