Get supervised training in a leadership role

An internship will help you practice your skills and use them in the real world.

It's a chance to try out a job in educational adminstration, which can affirm your professional interests or help you find a new career path.

Earn course credit for your internship

As a graduate student in educational administration, you may also receive course credit for completing on-site and off-site internships.

Through these courses, you will:

  • Earn your certification to become either a principal or superintendent.
    • For the principal certification, you'll complete two on-site full-semester courses (EAD 790 and EAD 791) and one off-site course (EAD 792).
    • For the superintendent certification, you'll complete three on-site courses (EAD 882, EAD 883 and EAD 886).
  • Complete 300 hours of on-site practical building-level (principal) or 150 hours of district-level (superintendent) experience.
  • Compile a portfolio that reflects the activities, processes and products that you encountered and produced during the internship.

Get started

To register for an internship, you must complete and submit the Educational Administration Internship Application (.pdf) to the Educational Administration Office.

Your advisor can also help you navigate the permission and internship process.
