Admission Requirements
To apply to the master’s of special education degree program, you must have a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university.
To be admitted, please take the following steps:
- Complete the graduate school application form.
- A letter of intent is required. You should clearly indicate in your letter of intent the master's emphasis area or certificate program to which you are applying.
- Three letters of recommendation are required, including one from the present employer, one from an individual who can attest to the candidate’s academic ability, and a third letter from another professional reference. For students applying to the SEACT option of the special education master's program, the third professional reference letter should be from a person who can speak to the candidate's ability to interact with or teach children or students.
- Transcripts showing all previous course work are required.
- A GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for the last 60 hours of undergraduate course work is required. For those who do not meet this requirement, alternative options may be available.
- A Missouri Volunteer and Employee Criminal History Service (MOVECHS) waiver and MOVECHS FBI Fingerprinting Background Check is required.
