MSEd Degree Plan: K-12 Principal

The Master of Science in Education, Educational Administration K-12 Principal program requires 36 hours. For full certification, you must have a valid K-12 teaching certificate, depending on your emphasis area, and also three years of teaching experience in K-12 education.

Becoming an K-12 school principal

Students will gain initial certification to serve as an K-12 principal in Missouri schools after completing the 36 hours of coursework and passing the required DESE assessment for certification. 

Courses may be taken in any order with the exception of EAD 790, which is taken in advance of EAD 791, and EAD 788, which is taken in advance of EAD 759. There are no electives in this program.

The internship experience is an integral part of this major and should be planned for, with the internship instructor, in advance of the semester in which the student desires to register for the experience.
