#BearsTeach
June 2-6, 2025
The Missouri State #BearsTeach initiative looks to recruit students interested in the teaching profession to address the teacher shortage in Missouri. The program takes freshmen, sophomores, and juniors from the school districts around the state of Missouri and invites them to attend a summer immersion program on the campus of Missouri State University.
#BearsTeach goals
- Recruit students into teacher preparation programs.
- Prepare students academically and socially for college life.
Student activities
- Stay in one of our residence halls and eat at one of our fine dining halls.
- Participate in ACT Boot Camp.
- Engage in mini-workshops on identifying potential scholarships, writing admission and scholarship essays, campus social activities, financial aid, and student support systems available through MSU.
- Enjoy swimming in the lazy river or rock climbing in the Foster Rec Center.
- Explore the Springfield area by attending a Springfield Cardinals game, going to a “destination” restaurant, and other events.
As a potential #BearsTeach participant, we hope you give us an opportunity to show you why we believe we are the best university and College of Education in the state of Missouri!

Summer Mentor Application
Missouri State will be hosting a summer immersion program for high school students interested in pursuing a career in teaching. The #BearsTeach program will bring about 50 high school students to campus June 2-6 14, 2025. They will have ACT Test Prep, attend workshops on financial aid, student organizations, visit a college education course, observe in Springfield Public classrooms, and attend local attractions like a Springfield Cardinals Game and Bass Pro Shop. To carry out this program, we will need #BearsTeach Mentors, who are current MSU students in a teaching degree program. The Mentors will help lead activities, stay in the residence hall and eat in the dining hall, and chaperone the high school students throughout the event. You will earn $100 a day for 5 days and receive free room and board during the program. If you are interested, please submit an application by March 8, 2025 via Summer Mentor Application Form.
