Fall 2017 Events

  • New Student Festival 2017: Sunday, August 20, 3:00 - 4:30pm, PSU
    This event occurs immediately after the Freshman Convocation. Hundreds of freshmen come by the booths and talk to us about careers in education. (Volunteer: Ed Advisement)

  • 2017 Majors Fair: Wednesday, September 27, 9:00 - 3:00pm, PSU Ballroom
    GEP101 instructors require students to attend this event. It is very busy with lots of questions and interest in education programs. (Volunteers: Cindy Thieman, Jessica Bendure, Juli Panza, Peyton Davis)
  • 2017 Springfield College and Career Fair: Tuesday, October 3, 5:00 - 7:00pm, University Plaza Hotel and Convention Center
    This event will be open to all SPS students as well as surrounding Southwest Missouri and Northwest Arkansas areas. Last year there were approximately 1500 students and parents in attendance. This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our programs as well as our newest services...i.e. "CLAW". (Volunteers: Ed Advisement, Peyton Davis)
  • Fall Showcase 2017: Saturday, October 7, 9:30 - 11:30am, PSU 
    High school students and parents are invited from around Missouri and surrounding states to come for campus tours and opportunities to meet department representatives and faculty about our programs. Attendees are also invited to the afternoon football game (if available). Various Halls are open from 12:30 - 1:00pm for parents and students to view facilities. Hill Hall will not be open due to construction. COE will have a table with information in the PSU. (Volunteers: Ed Advisement, Peyton Davis)
  • Homecoming 2017: Friday & Saturday October 27-28, The One Room School House & BearFest Village, respectively.
    The theme for homecoming this year is "Welcome Home". On Saturday, COE will be providing the food and student organizations will be manning tables with fun activities for kids. COE will provide a tent for your comfort. It's lots of fun and we'll need help w/ serving and greeting, so plan to come!. (Volunteers: Ed Advisement)
  • 2017 St. Louis National Fair (NACAC): Sunday, October 22, 1:00-4:00.
    Students and families from around the St. Louis area will meet with college representatives and faculty about our programs. (Volunteer:  TBA)
  • 2017 Kansas City National College Fair (NACAC): Tuesday, October 24, 8:30-11:30, Kansas City Convention Center.
    Students and families from around the Kansas City area will meet with college representatives and faculty about our programs. (Volunteers: TBA )

Spring 2018 Events

  • 2018 Presidential Scholarship Interview Day: Saturday, January 27, PSU Ballroom
    The Presidential Scholarship Interview Day is among the most important recruitment events we conduct each year and our matriculation rate for students (even those not offered the scholarship) is very high (67% or higher). Thirty Presidential Scholorships are offered to highly qualified students. To make this event successful, we are counting on help from faculty and staff within our COE. (Volunteers: TBA)
  • 2017-18 Transfer VIP Days: Friday,  February 23.
    Prospective appointments will be scheduled with majors of interest (Volunteers: TBA)
  • 2018 Inclusive Excellence Leadership Scholarship Interview Day: Saturday, February 24. 
    MSU will host the Inclusive Excellence Leadership Scholarship Interview Day in Plaster Student Union. We will have a representative and booth from our area available for prospective students and parents to answer questions and obtain information about our different majors and opportunities on campus. It's important for MSU and all the Colleges to reach out to all students and we're excited to have this opportunity. (Volunteer: TBA)
  • 2018 University Ambassadors Retreat: TBA
    This event will provide University Ambassador students with information about College of Education programs as well as specific contacts for Secondary programs. (Volunteers: TBA)
  • Admitted Student Day 2018: Saturday, April 14. 
    High school students and parents are invited from around Missouri and surrounding states to come for campus tours and opportunities to meet department representatives and faculty about our programs. COE will have a table with information in the PSU. Online registration will be available through MSU website. (Volunteers: TBA)

Summer 2018 Events

  • Annual Special Summer Visit Day 2018: Friday, July 27. 
    High school students and parents are invited from around the area to visit MSU's campus and to meet department representatives and faculty about our program. Attendees will enjoy refreshments at PSU while visiting with campus representatives. (Volunteers:  TBA)
