Research and professional interests

Dr. Cemore Brigden has over 28 years of experience in the early childhood field as a teacher in private arenas and public schools from Pre-K through college. She is a board member of The Association for the Study of Play and the International Play Association – American Association for the Child’s Right to Play, a certified prek-3 teacher and a certified special education teacher K-12. Dr. Joanna Cemore Brigden is passionate about defending the rights of every child to play. To that end she is involved nationally and internationally advocating for the rights of every child. Her research includes the study of children’s make-believe play, creativity, emotional intelligence, service-learning, and teacher perceptions. Her wish is that someday children’s emotional well-being will be what parents and teachers value more than any particular cognitive skill.
